LOVES PARK, IL (April 26, 2009) – Mother Nature just doesn’t want to see any racing at Rockford Speedway this weekend as inclement weather has once again forced the cancellation of a season-opening event, this time the 32nd annual Spring Classic. The event will not be rescheduled for a third time after weather forced a postponement last Sunday as well. Over a half an inch of rain had already fallen overnight and showers were expected to continue throughout the day forcing the cancellation.
For those who bought a pit pass or an advance ticket, please send it to:
Rockford Speedway ATTN: Spring Classic, P.O. Box 1000, Rockford, IL 61105 for a refund or it can be used as credit towards the 2009 season at Rockford Speedway. Fans who bought an advance ticket for the Spring Classic are welcome to stop by the track or mail their tickets to the above address.
The next event for the BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet will be the 'Joe Shear 38' at the fast half-mile Madison International Speedway on Sunday, May 3rd. The ASA Midwest Tour will also be in action for their 'Joe Shear Classic'. The green flag will fly on the 2009 Big 8 Series season at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 2:45 p.m. and gates opening at noon.
