LOVES PARK, IL (Wednesday, July 09, 2008) – The BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet is preparing for its first visit to Golden Sands Speedway in Plover, WI for the Kwik Trip Special Olympics 58 this Friday night. The 1/3 mile banked paved oval will host the best “Weekly Warriors” as part of their popular Friday night program.
In the three races so far this season, two drivers have stood out among the rest of the pack. Michael Bilderback and Jeremy Miller are currently tied at the top of the point standings.
Bilderback took home the first win of the season by capturing the Spring Classic 100 at Rockford Speedway. Miller wasn’t far behind as he came home third.
The two met again a few weeks later at Madison International Speedway where Miller made a last lap pass on Bilderback to collect the win.
Then, on June 24th, the Big 8 Series put on a great show in support of the Swiss Colony All-Star Challenge at MIS where Ryan Carlson beat Bilderback by a few inches with Miller right behind in third.
This Friday night, another chapter into this exciting season will be written and the Sam Bartus designed track will present a great venue for that chapter.
Practice begins at 5:00 pm with qualifying at 6:30 pm. The first race will be at 7:45 pm.
The 58-lap feature event will have a 24-car starting field with the top 14 in qualifying automatically getting a starting spot in the feature event. Positions 15-22 will come through qualifying races while position 23 will go to the Big 8 Series highest point driver not already in the field. Position 24 will go to the highest Golden Sands LLM point driver not already qualified.
