The Official Entry Blank for the 36th annual Spring Classic Big 8 Late Model Series event being contested at Rockford Speedway on Sunday afternoon April 14 is now available online at www.big8series.com. The 108 lap feature event marks many milestones for the ninth year series, including the return to the Hoosier Racing Tire family, utilizing the S800 tire which is now the choice of short tracks across the region. The new Weekly Warrior Wages program which rewards each driver up to $250 per event based on their weekly racing success and Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet accomplishments will also debut. The 1pm green flag officially brings the Midwest racing season to life during an afternoon which will also showcase the Mid-American Stock Car Series and Illinois Vintage Racing Series. Details regarding the new Big 8 Late Model Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet Weekly Warrior Wages program can now be found on the series website at www.big8series.com. The program will reward up to $250 cash per driver pre entered for each Big 8 Series event in 2013. Accomplishments such as track and series Championships, feature wins plus weekly as well as Big 8 Series point standings will be used to calculate the Weekly Warrior Wages at each event, beginning with the season opening event on April 14, the Spring Classic 108 at Rockford Speedway.

“We have a lot of talented drivers compete with us, and each week they are showing their talents at their weekly home track. This gives those drivers that are making headlines and supporting weekly short track racing a little incentive throughout the year and should put some extra money in their pockets.” Stated Series Director Gregg McKarns. Last season saw an average of over 35 competitors per Big 8 Series event with feature winners and Champions from across the region battling for the checkered flag.

The 2013 Big 8 Schedule includes stops at Rockford, Columbus 151 Speedway, Madison International Speedway, the Milwaukee Mile, Jefferson Speedway, the National Short Track Championships as well as the Championship Round during the Oktoberfest Race Weekend at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway.

The minimum valve stem diameter rule for the Big 8 Late Model Series and Rockford Speedway Late Models has been ammended after further research. The new rule now states: In 2014 and beyond, only 3/8”, 5/16” or 11/32” valve stem diameter allowed. Loves Park, IL- The 65th Rockford Speedway Champions’ Banquet will take place on Saturday night January 26 at Forest Hills Lodge, located adjacent to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series sanctioned quarter mile facility. Drivers from all four NASCAR divisions, the Big 8 Late Model Series, Stateline Staffing Services Dashes, Wild Wednesday Nights, Sam’s Drive-In Challenge, the Gilley’s Cool 5 Series and Nason’s Landscaping Faster than a Speeding Bullet Award recipients will be honored during a night of fun and fellowship. Loves Park, IL- The preliminary 2013 schedule for the Big 8 Late Model Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet was made public today. The popular Midwest based series for weekly asphalt late model competitors will begin their ninth season on Sunday afternoon April 14 at Rockford Speedway during the 36th annual Spring Classic. Currently eight dates at seven tracks will challenge the best weekly competitors. Additional dates are being finalized at this time. An informational meeting is scheduled to take place during the Midwest Motorsports Racer’s Expo held at Madison’s (WI) Alliant Energy Center Veterans Memorial Coliseum Friday and Saturday January 4-5, 2013. A new Achievement Program rewarding teams for their weekly racing accomplishments will be unveiled at that time. The Big 8 Late Model Series All-Stars event will be part of the 4th annual Thunderstruck 93 scheduled for Friday September 21 and Saturday September 22 at Elko (MN) Speedway. The non-points race will bring many stars from Wisconsin and Illinois weekly racing to go head to head with Minnesota's best for 58 laps on the 3/8 mile paved oval. Entry forms for the upcoming Wisconsin State Championships at Jefferson Speedway Twin 75 features for the Stars and Cars of the Big 8 Late Model Series on Friday September 14 and Saturday September 15 are now available on the series website at www.big8series.com. This is the richest race in the region for weekly Late Models, with a possible $2,725 to win and a guaranteed $300 for any car that competes both nights. Top drivers from Wisconsin and Illinois are expected to try their hand at 'the two day show' against the strong field of Jefferson Speedway regulars protecting their home turf and title of Wisconsin State Champion.
